Greetings from the Lair -
Earlier this year, Super Evil Megacorp had the privilege of announcing our partnership with Netflix in an effort to support a major new IP. Of course, that’s never been the full story, and we’ve done our best to stay tight-lipped and patient until the time was right to share more.
Zack Snyder took the stage with Geoff Keighley at gamescom: Opening Night Live 2023 to reveal the trailer for his upcoming sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon. AND the confirmation of our partnership to work with Netflix and filmmaker Zack Snyder on a Rebel Moon game. We couldn’t be more thrilled!
As you can see from the trailer, the universe of Rebel Moon is vast and exotic, dark and dangerous; truly a fantasy primed for rich storytelling and the committed dreams of our development team. Building worlds is our passion and the opportunity to collaborate on this one has been a dream come true, making us equal parts excited and terrified by the creative challenge ahead. We feel this recent quote from Zack on our partnership sums this up:
“...(SEMC has) been incredibly reverent and faithful to the source material, and they've been incredibly inclusive and really want to talk with me constantly about mythology and about the canon and about the world.”
- Zack Snyder
If you want to explore more details on the development of the Rebel Moon IP, IGN has a great interview with Zack and Deborah Snyder, check it out! https://www.ign.com/articles/the-zack-and-deborah-snyder-gamescom-interview-details-on-rebel-moons-plot-video-game-and-more
Our studio has learned a great deal about cooperative play from Vainglory, Catalyst Black, and TMNT: Splintered Fate and we are intending to take all of those learnings and push them to the next level. We are blessed to have had players from around the world who have been with us across our development journey, and we cannot say enough how much your support has meant over the years. It is our hope that our studio will continue to create games that thrill and excite our players in even bigger and better ways.
So… to summarize the details:
We are making a Rebel Moon game.
It is a four-player co-op action game.
It will be exclusive to Netflix members.
We are working in close collaboration with the movie team to provide an additive and detailed look at the universe and factions you will experience in the films.
I’m gonna get back to work now, but you’ll hear from us again when the time is right. Until then, make sure you grab some popcorn on December 22nd and enjoy the first Rebel Moon film. And remember…
Never settle for the lesser evil.
